(Proverbs 20:21 KJV) An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
We live in a drive-through world. As I started my computer this morning I was chaffing at the bits (that should be a computer term) while it decided to do all the little unseen things it does. It is lightening compared to my lethargic first computer but I keep getting used to now. Think about all the things that have speeded up in our lives. We don’t need to sit and let our cars idle while they warm up. The microwave does a baked potato in minutes. Laundry is a matter of moving things from one automatic machine to another. The list of quickness is endless.
Some things are worth the wait. I don’t drink, but I am told that fine wine takes time. The more flavor a cheese has the longer it has been aged. We are told not to make new believers elders in the church. Yet when it comes to this we expect our spiritual lives to happen over night. As I have heard often, “We want patience, and we want it now.”
Jesus is preparing an “inheritance” (5159) for us. We are getting ready. We are developing the spiritual patten that only comes through time. There is a reason for the seasoning that is going on in your life. I may not like it now, but I will be grateful then.
So? Get a head start on the gratitude. You may not understand why but we can be confident in the Who.
