(Proverbs 24:14 KJV) So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
Here “wisdom” (2451) is presented as a requirement, not an option. I am sorry if that rains on your parade, but that seems to be what it says.
For some of you that is bad news. You have built a life around our cultural teaching of self-esteem and self-actualization. You believe the lie that children are unpolluted founts of wisdom. It has become an excuse for your lack of discipline and obedience.
For some this is good news. It is presented in such a way that we know wisdom is available for anyone who seeks. It is the Holy Spirit who provides it and teaches it.
Think of it as a kind of spiritual potty training. There comes a time in a young child’s life when he knows it is time to move out of the diapers. He can see what is expected and has even had some success. In most children it is a choice to grow up and move forward. If you don’t or if it causes trauma we have words for that condition.
So? Grow up. Oh, not over night, but if you don’t start now, when will be the right time? God is patient but He can tell the difference between stages of growth and refusal to grow.
