(Proverbs 13:20 KJV) He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Have you noticed how people who smoke don’t seem to be aware that they smell like tobacco? The smell clings to everything it touches. I had a friend in my youth who would come over and want to go for coffee. I would always go. When I would get back I would need to change clothes and take another shower because I would reek of the weed. It was a minor inconvenience.
The ideas and thought patterns of others effect us the same way. We may not even notice but we begin to pick up style from those around us. Have you been around someone who supposedly went to school and has an education and had them talk about “dising” someone. This is not English. It is Ebonics. It is a word from the world of gangs and rap.
What kind of wisdom substitutes have you picked up from your environment?
So? Be careful who you hang with. The wisdom you sacrifice may be your own.
