(Proverbs 26:27 KJV) Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.
This is simple wisdom. We are our own worst enemy. We lay the groundwork for our lives and then we reap the results. I guess this is another form of “Whatever you reap, you will sow.”
What kind of future are you developing? Are you laying the foundation for punctuality or tardiness? Is your theme honesty or deceit? Are you careful or rash? Each time you make a decision you are adding to the foundation of the future.
So? Stop digging. Whatever that means in your life. Think about yesterday or today as it has unfolded. Life won’t change if you don’t. Don’t focus on the things you can’t change. If you have a big nose, stop looking in mirrors. Hey, that sounds like it could become a Pumice Proverb.

We can't help ourselves, I suppose, we ARE after all, our own worst enemies.
I guess that is why it also says in Proverbs something to the effect that the wounds of a friend are helpful. Think of all the ways our wives point out what we miss.
Grace and peace.
