An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Baby Bear Balance

(Proverbs 25:27 KJV)  It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.

This is the second time in this chapter that “honey” (1706) is mentioned.  Both times moderation is called for.  A key word here is “much” (7235a).  Let’s face it.  We are prone to excess.  Remember the potato chip commercial which claimed, “I bet you can’t eat just one.”  That is true for the two extremes, haters and lovers.

The two extremes are not moderation.  Abstinence is easier than moderation.  Gluttony is easier than moderation.  What is hard is being the baby bear and knowing what is just right.

So think about it.  Do you live a life of moderation or gluttony?  Think about your relationships.  Think about your spending patterns.  Think about your food choices.  Moderation is the key in all areas.

Thanks for this post. I think we, as humans, tend to over do things. Your message needs to be broadcast beyond these blog walls.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Part of the balance of life is keeping things like a blog in perspective. It is humbling to have things to say and have no one listen.

Humble is good even if it is painful.

Grace and peace.
