An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

What Paves the Road to Hell?

(Proverbs 30:20 KJV)  Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

Denial.  It is a constant presence in our lives.  I see it constantly in the children.  They will lie about things of no significance.  A student has gum literally hanging out of their mouth.  I tell them to spit it out and they respond with, “I don’t have any gum.”  They can get quite hostile denying what we both know to be true.

As adults we are also surrounded by denial.  We drive like a bat out of Boston and justify it by saying that everyone is doing it.  We watch what would have been banned a few years ago and see no problem.  We have enough clothes that if our washing machine broke down the repairman could be delayed for weeks and it would present no problem except for storage.  We live in blatant disobedience to the clear statements of God and we call on His love.

So?  The road to hell is not only paved with good intentions but with denial.  Be honest with yourself and with God.  You both know the truth.
