An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Minimum Daily Requirements

(Proverbs 27:27 KJV)  And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.

The idea of “enough” (1767) is hard for us to grasp.  Americans have grown accustomed to high levels of comfort and enough is not.  What does God promise us?

We see words such as plenty and bounty.  We read about riches as close as verse 24.  All are wonderful but what we need to learn to be happy with is “enough.”

Remember the question I have referred to before.  My son threw it back at me recently, “Is it a need or a want?”  There really is a difference.

So?  Trust God to supply your needs but don’t be afraid of having a few wants.  Just know the difference.

And then there's the modern saying, "Too much is never enough!"

Like most modern sayings, it lacks wisdom and misses the point.

Grace and peace.
