An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

(Proverbs 4:17 KJV)  For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

For some people “wickedness” (7562) is the bread of life.  If you have your Bible, look back over the preceding verses.  Verse 14 talks about the “path of the wicked.”  It is a path that is chosen.  We tend to forget this because of our modern indoctrination in psychology.  Flip Wilson used to have a comedy routine based on “The Devil made me do it!”  We blame compulsions and phobias.

The Bible talks about choices.  Notice that these people “eat” (3898b) and “drink” (8354).  These are not passive verbs, they are active.  Yes, people at times are trapped, forced, psyched and manipulated.  Do you think God is too ignorant to see that?  But people also make free choices.  Our culture is too ignorant to see that.

So?  How many choices will you make today?  How many are morally neutral and how many are loaded?  Stay away from wicked paths.

I was just thinking about that subject while driving around in circles picking up straw bales.
One of the spaceship radio guys had a Lucifarian (sp?) priest on. He was talking how the new order is that man is god. Since we are god then essentially we can do whatever we want.
It all sounds good until you think a little further and it gets scary. It led me to contemplating the sort of people who just give themselves over to do evil. They often don't call it evil.
Anyway, I have to go back to work. I drive in circles a lot...

"Spaceship radio guys?" I like that.

Wanting to be gods is a revival of the oldest heresy around. That is a version of what Satan threw at Eve in the garden.

The concept of evil is being rejected by our post-modern culture. If you are a reader and have a library nearby check out Dennis Prager's latest book, "Still the Best Hope." He talks about it a lot there.

I may have discovered your problem. You plant your fields in rows and try to pick up the bales in circles. But then I am just a city boy. Who am I to judge?

Grace and peace.

When I read that verse it makes me think of the Catholic wafer and wine but then again they refuse to see there idolatry of which im also guilty off for the sake of trying to keep the peace and unity between the members of my church but they are so stubburn. The whole CATHOLIC CHURCH for corruption/political/lucres sake they refuse to remove idols cause theyd lose income on sales. Let me remind them that the leaders as I myself cause im a priest will be held accountable for souls we tought... I feel like ELIJAH I have told them time and time again perhaps if I were certified with a piece of paper stating that I have credentials in theology people take me seriously but it does not take a genius to read the following verse and realize that you connect it to the catholic church.WWJD?? seriously it gets tiring of trying to argue or debate with people and I haven't gotten sick and tired of causing division so for the sake of peace keeping in unity I have had it. Let god deal with on the pressure on responsibility that was given to me I can handle it I really just can't handle it.
