An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Withholding

(Proverbs 3:27 KJV)  Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

One of the clearly understood demands of the people of God is that they do “good” (2896b)  This is expressed literally.
(Psalms 37:27 KJV)  Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
It is expressed in figurative terms.
(Matthew 5:13 KJV)  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Part of the good is in our actions but there is another way we can “withhold” (4513).  That is by withdrawing from out world.  I have heard it said that salt in the shaker flavors nothing.  We are the agents by which the Holy Spirit does His work.  We can’t do that work hiding and avoiding involvement.

So?  Join.  Volunteer.  Organize.  There is much need for spiritual salt in our public square.

Withdrawing is largely what my wife and I have done, though it's not my choice.

BTW, I made a suggestion on my blog that I'll repeat here. See if you can save the post you wanted onto a DVD and take to school for the kids.

What? Try something new? It might be worth a try. Technology is wonderful, when it works.

Grace and peace.
