(Proverbs 27:20 KJV) Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
What does it take to satisfy? The NASB uses “satisfied” (7646) twice, the KJV “full” and “satisfied.” Both times it is the same word in the Hebrew. In the choices for translation we have words like “sated” and “glut.” This is that desire of gluttons to eat until bursting. It is what makes us eat a whole bag of potato chips. Be honest, the second half didn’t taste near as good as the first but we were not “satisfied” (7646) until all was gone. The chances are we then looked around to see what else was available. If you don’t know what I am talking about, count your blessings.
Evil lusts, whether they be in the spiritual realm or in our hearts, keep pushing us to excess and dissipation.
So? Be aware of the sin of excess. I guess it might be better to say stop denying that it exists. Quit ignoring it. Moderation and balance are the hard things in life. Pray that God would help you today to exercise those virtues.
