(Pro 11:10 KJV) When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
This is one of those verses that get me scratching my head and saying, “Really?” I have more trouble with this than the parting of the Red Sea or Jesus walking on water. This verse does not match up with what I see in the headlines.
People are sometimes confused. They are only given half truths. They get the teams wrong. For instance, we are seeing a push to legalize drugs. The camel’s nose is marijuana. The mantra goes that it is harmless. It is no worse than alcohol and more benign than tobacco. It is just the hung up old dinosaurs that don’t want the young to have their fun. So goes the mantra. People seem to rejoice every time the drug laws are relaxed. Where is the righteousness?
People are not informed. There are more cancer causing chemicals in marijuana than tobacco. Traffic deaths from marijuana are dramatically increasing. It can damage your ability to think. All of this is ignored.
So? Work to be informed. That obviously starts with things the Bible talks about. Sometimes the areas that are not directly referenced in the Bible require a bit more thought and digging. Get a shovel and get to work.

I'm about 90% with you on this. I've been thinking about doing a post on pot, maybe I should.
One example of what the verse says might be (the righteous) David entering a rejoicing Jerusalem, after overthrowing his (wicked) enemies. Yet, as always, Christians should note how Jesus (and the N.T.) fulfills the O.T. on a new and different level. For while the crowd with Jesus rejoiced at his "triumphal" approach to Jerusalem, the city itself asked, "Who is this?" And a few days later the city's (and nation's) Jewish leaders crucified him. Yet on a higher level, Hebrews 11 speaks of Abraham looking forward to a heavenly city (11:10,16), and it is the heavenly "cloud" (city) of witnesses that surround (the righteous) Jesus (the pioneer and perfecter of our faith), when after enduring the shame of the cross, he sits at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:1-2).
Gorges, 90% is passing on a test like this. I wait for your input.
