(Proverbs 26:10 KJV) The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
In looking at the difference between the KJV and the NASB I examined the long definition for “formed” (2342a). How do you get from that to “wounds” of the NASB? The word seems to have started with the idea of a dance that consisted of whirling to the point of disorientation. You pushed the exertion to the point of damaging your body. Injury comes from excess.
Creation and other acts of God can have different effects depending on the degree of force, the timing and the object receiving attention. Think of a microwave. Run it for four minutes. A slice of cheese is destroyed. A small potato is ready to eat. A glass bowl is unaffected.
God does not act blindly. He is aware. That awareness is infinitely more intense than we can even imagine. That means we can trust. That means that we can fear.
So? God’s touch can encourage or demolish. Often the difference is what is in our heart. Make sure your life is lived in faith and obedience.
