Yesterday’s comments had to do with the mouth from a positive perspective.
(Proverbs 15:23 KJV) A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!Today we look at the result of an unholy mouth. Where the words of the godly bring joy, the ungodly generates “burning” (scorching NASB) (6866b) “fire” (784). It is interesting that when used as an adjective the Hebrew word means scorching but when used as a noun it means scar or scab. Rotten words from rotten people leave a scar.
The scar is twofold. It damages the target but it also works to destroy the speaker. Burning lips can lead to a lake of fire.
So? Expect evil from evil people. When the fire comes your way, turn to the Holy Spirit to put out the flame and become a balm of healing.
