(Proverbs 1:2 KJV) To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
Do I really want to “know” (3945) “wisdom” (2451)? That might seem like a rhetorical question or a no-brainer, but I am not sure if that is true. If I read over and look at the list of results I need to ask myself are they really high on my list. I need to ask that deep down in my heart where noone else is listening.
Assume it is a holiday weekend or the beginning of vacation. When I make a list of things I want to do will you find wisdom, understanding and justice high on the list? Probably not. They should be. It does not do me much good to read a diet book if I am not serious about controlling what I eat. It does not help me to buy an exercise machine if I never get on and put it to use or if I only use it twice a year.
So? Proverbs has a lot to offer. So does the rest of the Bible. I need to get serious about accepting the offer.
