“Slave NASB” (5650) or “servant KJV”? To us they are two different concepts but in the Old and New Testaments they are interchangeable. Part of that is a view of social class that was different. Part is an understanding that we are all in submission to something. Modern Americans with their John Wayne, macho mind set tend to think that we are totally free. The Bible does not look at it that way. In the Bible the masses are controlled by sin. That is why the world is in a handbasket on a journey. The only hope is to submit to the lordship of Jesus. As Jesus Himself said,
(Matthew 6:24 KJV) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. The only way to belong to Jesus is to give Him your heart, soul, mind and strength. Words alone won’t cut it.
So? Whom do you serve? Who is your master? Don’t be afraid to be a slave. You are anyway.
