(Proverbs 30:23 KJV) For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
Some people are never happy. Here we have two women who have achieved the top spot available in their culture, honorable marriage. Today that may seem a holdover from the patriarchal age but in Solomon’s day women did not have careers in anything except prostitution. So these ladies have arrived and they proceed to rock the world.
I wonder how many blessings God has given us that generate a selfish response instead of gratitude and grace. When I had success in losing weight I found myself becoming critical of those who had not. I should have had understanding and compassion but the tendency was to judge and be full of myself. When I sail through flu season without a sniffle I somehow feel like I am God’s chosen one instead of being blessed for reasons I don’t understand.
So? I need to rock the world with thanksgiving and generosity, not arrogance and self centered evaluations of others. I guess it is an application of “judge not”. God is watching along with the people around me.
