(Proverbs 27:2 KJV) Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
“Praise” (1984b) has its place but there are cautions involved. One that is not mentioned here is to not let praise go to your head. How we respond to praise is important. A false modesty can be like an insult to the person talking about you but genuine humility can accept the fact that you did a good job without being ruined by the admission.
The caution here is that we are not to do the praising ourselves. I think that part of that is not fishing for complements.
So? Keep in mind that to be humble you need something to be humble about. Work on that.
