The Touch

(Pro 12:11 KJV) He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

One of the routines I follow is to look around my bubble every morning and reflect on all the material things I have to be thankful for.  I don’t stop with the wealth represented by electric lights and running water but I start there.  Many times my prayers will strike on the many hands that produced all of the things I take for granted.  How many people kept their hands to the proverbial plow in order to produce my Bible, my chair, the pillow on my bed and the multitude of everyday articles that I take for granted?  Their faithfulness has been a blessing to me and to countless others even if we don’t think about it much.

I wonder what lives my hands have touched.  I have worked construction so I could probably go back and find physical things I had a part in.  As a teacher I touched thousands of lives.  I always wonder if my touch was a blessing, a curse or a waste of everyone’s time. 

So?  I will touch things today, literally and figuratively.  May the touch not be in vain.
