An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Basic Thanksgiving

(Pro 20:12 KJV)  The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

I think that Solomon was having his morning devotions when he wrote this.  He was going over all the things that he had to be thankful for.  It suddenly occurred to him, or the Holy Spirit whispered in his ear, that he was overlooking some of the basic stuff.

I often do the same thing, so this morning I asked the Lord to remind me of some of the blessings I tend to overlook.  I regularly thank Him for His grace, for Jesus’ willingness to go to the cross, my overworked guardian angel and such as that.  Today He reminded me of such mundane things as electricity, inexpensive steel and weaving.  What would life be like without such basics?  I guess the answer would look a lot like the stone age.

So?  Rejoice in the bounty God has given us.  If you are having a hard time with that try to start a fire with no modern devices.
