(Pro 25:1 KJV) These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
This verse is a glimpse into the activity of the Holy Spirit in preserving the written word for us today. What we are reading happened thousands of years ago. We don’t have all the details. I wonder what kind of editing went on by the priests and officials. Ultimately I trust that the process was in the hands of the Holy Spirit.
This should be a reinforcer for our understanding of the inspiration of scripture. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. We don’t believe it contains the word of God, but is. There is a big difference in those two positions. One says to take the truth and live by it. The other says to take the way you want to live and edit to Bible to fit. History is full of people who have edited the Bible. Thomas Jefferson is famous for literally cutting portions out that he did not like. Today it is often done by Bible translators, seminary professors and preachers.
So? Beware. One of the foundations of knowing who is a Christian is accepting the Bible.
