We are living in a time when many people are noticing that store shelves are not full and selection is becoming a memory. Some are forecasting all kinds of doom on our economy. As Americans we are so used to plenty we think it is our birthright. As Christians we often tend to think like Americans. We are God’s people. We are blessed. We will always have plenty, right?
I am not sure that is what God promises. He says He will meet our needs. For me that might mean instant oatmeal instead of old fashioned. It might be liver for dinner. It definitely does not promise that I will chose my menu for the rest of my life. The point here is that if our heart is right then we will be satisfied with enough.
So? I believe there are going to be shortages ahead. I believe we should stock up as well as we can. I don’t believe we should go into a panic about it. We need just enough concern to live responsible lives before God.

We have been living in the most prosperous time in human history. You really have to put serious effort into starving in the USA. It wouldn't hurt to stock up a bit. Good times can't last forever!
I don't think people with no awareness of history or any experience outside the US have any idea how blessed we are. I live in gratitude. I agree with trying to prepare and at the same time realizing that ultimately my trust is in God, not my pantry.
I would hope that being a farmer you are also growing your own squash.
