An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Ongoing

(Pro 6:21 KJV)  Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

We have a preference for certain things only needing to be done once.  Often we look at salvation through that prism.  We have people who prayed a prayer or were baptized as infants and they feel like that moment sealed them for eternity.  That is a theological argument for another day.  What we see here is that God wants us to take certain spiritual action “continually” (8548).  This is for our benefit, not God’s.

If you want to know the fullness of God in your life it means that you recognize you are on a journey.  It is a walk.  The arrival will come at the resurrection.  Then things will be different but now we are supposed to keep working at it.

So?  This means daily.  It means moment by moment.  It means to develop habits that teach you to look at the spiritual implications of actions and decisions.  It is never too soon to develop this kind of habit.
