(Psa 102:10 KJV) Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.
(Proverbs 22 also read)
This is a gloomy and depressing Psalm. The author is in dire straights. All is misery and suffering. It is like he lives in the time when the prophecies of God’s wrath are fulfilled. In the midst of this there is something missing and this verse comes the closest to expressing it. There does not seem to be much confession or repentance in this chapter. He describes his desperation. He praises God. But there is a disconnect between sin and punishment.
I am reading the writings of a dispensationalist who goes out of his way to claim that confession and repentance are not necessary. I think he is wrong. I think that the Bible is full of proclamations of hope and restoration but one of the conditions involves us turning away from our sins. Grace is still the agent but God demands also.
So? If God does not seem to be listening then maybe it is brokenness and humility He is not hearing. There is nothing wrong with His reception.
