The Chosen Name

(Psa 113:3 KJV)  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised.

(Proverbs 18 also read)

At this point in this Psalm we have seen the phrase “name (8034) of the LORD (3068)” three times and the unique name “LORD” [yhwh] five.  This name is not just another word for God.  It is the name that God Himself revealed to Moses.  Out of all the words and names available He chose the Hebrew YHWH or Yahweh or sometimes translated as Jehovah.

It means “I am” and points out that the God of the Bible is the real one.  He is not just a name, a wish, a compilation or a fantasy.  He is.

So?  It gives us a foundation that we need to keep reminding ourselves of.  Foundations are much bigger than the parts that are visible and are not thought about much.  Foundations are what keep everything else in place.  Worship and rejoice.
