An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Lost

(Psa 8:1 KJV)  To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

(Proverbs 15 also read)

This word of praise is repeated at the end of this Psalm.  Notice that the first “LORD” (3068) [YHVH] is a different word than the second “Lord” (136) [adonay].  This is shown by the first being in all upper case letters.  What is on my radar today is that God is so “majestic” (117) that the Jews forgot how to pronounce His name.

In a sense this is a good thing.  It puts us a few steps away from making His name a superstitious talisman that we wave around to manipulate and substitute for obedience.  It forces us to contemplate on who God is by His actions and words.  We ultimately come to know Him in the person of His Son, Jesus.

So?  Praise Him and rejoice in Him.  He is beyond our comprehension in one way and yet we can know Him in another.
