An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Unseen Connections

(Psa 118:22 KJV)  The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

and

(Psa 118:24 KJV)  This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

(Proverbs 3 also read)

This verse is very familiar to everyone.  We sing a chorus that is straight out of the KJV.  People love the song, even if they don’t realize it is from Psalms.

What I noticed today for the first time was how close it is to verse 22, a well known prophecy about Jesus.  How many times have I read this Psalm without noticing?  It is amazing how our brains don’t seem to engage at times.  Maybe it is only my brain but I have the feeling I am not alone in this.

Jesus is the cornerstone!  He was rejected.  Let us rejoice in that because it was part of the process of making us part of the Body of Christ.  It gives us unending reason to “rejoice” (1523).

So?  Is Jesus the cornerstone of your life?  He is the cornerstone of our faith.  As I contemplate a world where everything seems to be falling apart and I can’t believe anything I read, this gives me a reason to rejoice in the day.
