(Pro 27:26 KJV) The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
What are the goats and lambs of your life? I am not a shepherd. I have no desire to be a goatherd. I am content admiring them from afar and letting the children pet them. At the same time there are things in my life that take their place. This is a verse in support of free market responsibility. We are to use our assets to provide for our needs. Notice that you are not eating the sheep, you are shearing them. And you are encouraged to buy land.
God expects us to be givers, not takers. That is a bit of a jump from this but consistent with it. I am not to expect my neighbors goats to supply my clothing. I think it also implies it is better to own the field than rent.
So? Consider God’s guidance of your financial life as much as your spiritual walk. Maybe they are intertwined more than we think.
