(Psa 15:1 KJV) A Psalm of David. LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
(Proverbs 4 also read)
Picture the historical setting. The temple is not yet built but I assume that Mount Zion has been selected. Worship is still centered around the Tabernacle or “tent” (168) as the NASB has it. The NASB always translates it “tent”, the KJV uses “tabernacle” about half the time. I assume that is when it refers to the specific tent assembled for worship and the presence of the Ark.
Even at this point in time we have the concept of abiding in the presence of God. Jesus uses the concept in John 15. The Greek word has a similar meaning and the teaching is the same. We are offered the glorious chance to live in the presence of Almighty God. It does not happen automatically. Read the rest of this chapter in Proverbs. There will be no surprises. God expects us to want to live righteous lives.
So? He has reached out. If we trust in Jesus then we are given the Holy Spirit to enable us to continue the work of being upright. Make the blessing real in your life.
