An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Except

Psalms 127:1 (KJV) [[A Song of degrees for Solomon.]] Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain.

(Proverbs 18 also read)

Noticed what this does not say.  It does not say, “Take a nap under the tree and expect God to build the house”.  It does not say, “Don’t bother posting guards”.  Both are expected, but they are empty gestures unless God is involved in it.

Too often we are looking for excuses for our sloth.  We forget that sloth is one of the seven deadly sins.  We confuse the truth that we cannot work our way into salvation with the need to work.

So?  Trust.  Believe.  Get busy.
