An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

About Face

(Psa 73:17 KJV)  Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

(Proverbs 13 also read)

If you read the first half of this Psalm, you find nothing but despair.  The author looks at the prosperous lives of the wicked and wonders.  Where is God?  Then he comes into the sanctuary and everything is refocused and put in a different order.

Why do we come to worship?  Obviously we come to praise God, and to lift him up.  But in addition to that there is the presence of God speaking to us, and opening our eyes to eternity, and to what God has planned for us and for His world.  When we come to worship, when we come into the sanctuary, in our day and age, when we attend church, things look different.

Is it just appearance?  Is it just our imagination?  Is it just our feelings?  No, God simply makes us more aware of who He is and what He is doing.

So? Don’t abandon the means of grace that are extended to us by coming to the sanctuary and worshiping the living God.  He will meet with us.  He will speak to us.  He will help us to see things as they are, and not as we feel them to be.
