An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Generic

(Pro 24:1 KJV)  Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

The first verse of this chapter sets the mood for the rest.  Here Solomon has a lot to say about the “evil” (7463a) “men” (376) that are so common in our world.  I would like to say “in our modern world” but this was written thousands of years ago and has remained true on a daily basis.

It is interesting that in this location the actual Hebrew for “man” is used.  Often the “man” is understood and the comment would be more about generic evil.

So?  Just another reminder that we do not live in a benevolent world.  Keep in mind that it is out to get you and your greatest protection is the presence of the Living God residing in your heart.
