An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Stand Tall

(Pro 25:26 KJV)  A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

Different translations handle this in different ways but the idea is that there is a real danger of “righteous people” yielding and giving way to the “wicked” in our society.  As I write this, the election is still to come.  We don’t know how it will turn out.  As it is posted, it is after the election.  In either case, we need to be alert as salt and light in our communities.

It doesn’t matter who is president.  We will be confronted by evil and corruption and by all manner of powers that want to drag us down into the dirt and muddy our lives.  It may be that we can’t do anything to keep the mud off of our shoes, but we can keep it out of our soul.  We can keep it away from our witness.  We can be a radiant light of righteousness.

So?  Not only can we be light and salt, but we must be light and salt.  Stand tall.
