An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Wings

Psalms 63:7 (KJV) Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

(Proverbs 28 also read)

Awhile back I made a comment that God is not a big chicken in reference to hiding under His wings.  I went on with life, but I’ve been noticing repeated references to basically hiding under His wings.  That made me rethink my flippant comment.

The wings are there.  The promise of shelters there.  But we are not little chicks hiding under the wings of a hen.  I did a quick search on my software, and found no use of the word chicken.  What I do know is it refers to eagles.  So when we go and hide under the shelter of wings, it’s not a Rhode Island Red; it’s the American Bald Eagle.  It is an animal with a curved beak and sharp claws, ready to defend that which is sheltering.

So? God is not only ready and willing to shelter us, He is able.
