An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Shields Up

Psalms 91:7 (KJV) A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

(Proverbs 13 also read)

My mind turns to Star Trek and other similar sci-fi.  When certain dangers are coming your way, Captain Kirk will order the shields turned on, and maybe raised to maximum.  That seems to be what this verse about.  After talking about all of the dangers to worry about this one soldier says basically that they’re gonna be falling all around him, but he will be safe.

Is this a promise or principle?  Is this something just for this one person back in the days of Israel or is it for all of us today?  Is it a sometimes thing or an always thing?  Anyway you want to look at it this is a word of assurance.  As the vernacular goes, God has your back.

So?  Got wild and crazy times?  Worried about rioting in the city and insurrection?  Concerns about the deep state?  Wonder what that noise is under the hood?  Keep in mind that ultimately God is going to see to it that you come through with shining colors.  Those colors should shine all the way into eternity.
