An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Year of the Ear

(Pro 1:33 KJV)  But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

I’m going to assume something.  I assume that you were not born yesterday.  I know I wasn’t.  That means that I have a pool of knowledge and experience to draw on.  Having said that, I still need to be reminded of some common basic things.  If you’re a man, you know what it is to have somebody remind you that you forgot to zip up your fly.  It pays to listen.  I find myself sitting behind men in church who have not adjusted their collar and need to listen to my advice about that bit of fashion.  My wife likes to tell me that we have high winds coming and I know I need to move the furniture on the porch.

It doesn’t matter how much you know, you still need to listen.

So?  As we begin a new year, I assure you that God will be speaking to you.  If you’re like me, you need to listen.  I will try to follow my own advice.  You can re-read the verse and decide what it says to you.
